Hedingham Castle
My family and I visited Hedingham Castle on Sunday because we enjoy exploring old sites and castles across the UK. Should we hire someone? After that, we call a company cab. We receive a cab from [the company] in an environmentally responsible manner. The cab prices are competitive compared to other companies all over the UK. When our cab reaches our location, we get out and sit in our cab, ready to go to Hedingham Castle because we are very excited. The cabbie and my father both share their experiences, as well as some of my father's.The cab is very luxurious and comfortable for us. When we reached our destination, the cab driver unloaded our bags and handed them over to us. Then we booked a guide to tell us some info about Hedingham Castle. The guide tells us:The most well-preserved Norman keep in England is Hedingham Castle, located near the Essex community of Castle Hedingham. Around 1100, the castle's defences and outbuildings were constructed, and around 1140, they keep. The keep is the only
signifiant mediaeval building that has endured, despite losing two turrets. It is a scheduled monument and a Grade I listed building. The public is welcome within the keep. Then he also tells us about the history, filming, and photography of the castle. For example, a previous castle thought to have been constructed by Norman lord Aubrey de Vere I in the late 11th or early 12th century may have stood where Hedingham Castle now stands. Among the larger manors that Aubrey bought was Hedingham. He owned the manor of Hedingham by 1086, according to the Domesday Book, and he mandated the planting of vines. It rose to become the barony of Vere's ruler.Candidates for starting the construction of a significant stone tower at Hedingham include Aubrey II and Aubrey III, possibly to symbolise the family's elevated position. Henry the First appointed Aubrey II, the first Aubrey's son and successor, as master chamberlain of England in 1133. King Stephen's wife, Matilda, passed away in Castle Hedingham on May 3, 1152.
The conflict between King John, the rebel barons, and the French prince resulted in two sieges of the fortress, which took place in 1216 and 1217. (In both instances, the besiegers of the castle won the quick and successful sieges.) The de Vere family owned the castle until 1625. The 3rd Earl of Oxford, Robert de Vere, the 9th Earl of Oxford, John de Vere, the 13th Earl of Oxford, and Edward de Vere, the 17th Earl of Oxford—who Oxfordians believe to be the author of William Shakespeare's works—are among the more well-known earls.
The second episode of The Landscape of Man, which was broadcast on Channel 4 in 2010, was filmed at Hedingham Castle and showed the transformation of the castle's grounds and gardens, which had been neglected for much of the 20th century and turned into a wilderness. Additionally, the castle served as a backdrop for the 2003 drama The Reckoning and the BBC series Ivanhoe (1997).Hedingham Castle has been used as a setting for the documentaries Made in Britain (2005) with Fred Dibnah, he Shakespeare Theory (2013) with Derek Jacobi, and A History of Britain with Simon Schama. The castle was also included in a 1997 photo session for Vanity Fair with Isabella Blow and Alexander McQueen; the image may be seen hanging in London's National Portrait Gallery. We very much enjoyed our day at that castle, especially with the help of company cab hire service.
