When I reached Bolingbroke Castle I explored Bolingbroke Castle and gain history, info and very details about Bolingbroke Castle such as:
In Bolingbroke (formerly Old Bolingbroke), Lincolnshire, England, there is a destroyed fortress called Bolingbroke Castle. And the history of the castle In the sixth or seventh century, the Saxons fortified the region for the first time. The Normans constructed a Motte-and-bailey in the 12th century on a nearby hilltop overlooking the community of Bolingbroke. Shortly after his return from the Fifth Crusade in 1220, Ranulf, Earl of Chester, founded the current building. Without a male heir, Ranulf passed away in 1232, leaving his titles, lands, and castles to his sisters. When Henry of Grosmont, the 1st Duke of Lancaster, passed away in 1361, Bolingbroke was acquired by John of Gaunt through marriage. Blanche of Lancaster, his wife, was born there in 1342; she was Henry of Grosmont's daughter. Henry (the future Henry IV), the son of John and Blanche, was also born in Bolingbroke Castle in 1367 and, as a result, was known as "Henry Bolingbroke" before ascending to the throne in 1399. The fortress was repaired during the Tudor era, but by the 15th and 16th centuries, it had deteriorated. A survey conducted in 1636 revealed that all of the towers were essentially beyond repair.
Bolingbroke was once more used as a military stronghold with the outbreak of the First English Civil War, this time with Royalist soldiers in charge. During the Battle of Winceby in 1643, it suffered significant damage from a siege. The castle was taken again from the Parliamentarians the next year, but due to defeats suffered elsewhere, it was lost once more. In order to stop any further use, the fortress was lit in 1652. Walls and towers were demolished and poured into the moat. In 1815, the final substantial building was destroyed. And the contraction is very unique from another castle for example;
The majority of the castle and numerous neighbouring churches are constructed from Spilsby greenstone. Limestone found in the area, the local greenstone has been found to be porous, prone to quick deterioration when exposed to weather, and an inferior building material. The castle was built to resemble an asymmetrical polygonal enclosure. It is one of the first instances of a regular castle without a keep that was planned and constructed. It used to be encircled by a sizable moat that was 102 feet (31 metres) wide and filled with water. Five D-shaped towers, a twin-towered gatehouse, and a curtain wall that could be up to five metres (16 feet) thick served as a defence.
Bolingbroke had no inner defensive keep, unlike another castle constructed by Ranulf around the same time period at Beeston in Cheshire. Instead, the castle made use of its five D-shaped defensive corner towers and its thick walls. There are some design resemblances with the modern castle at Boulogne-sur-Mer, France, which was likewise built without a central donjon. I enjoy all my journey with the help of company cab hire service.
